Cheap is too Expensive!
Now a days everyone is price conscience but going for the cheapest option often isn’t the best value in the long run. Trying to do-it- yourself or using a relative who “does it on the side” can end up costing you more than just money.
How often have you hired the cheapest contractor only to have to call in another one to fix what the previous one did – or did not do?
How often have you had to replace something you purchased because it was the cheapest one and fell apart?
As the President of Pilothouse Communications and Manager of my home, I am always looking for the best price. But the best price is not always the cheapest price. I have learned that when you are working with your vendors, it doesn’t pay to nickel and dime them.
- Be aware of the value they offer you.
- Respect their industry knowledge.
- Partner with them to increase your own success.
A vendor who knows their worth won’t participate in being seen as a commodity, and will spend their time with clients who know better. This creates a long-term business relationship where the interests of both parties are served. I don’t understand when a sales prospect keeps asking for us to lower our price- do they not want to work with a company that is an expert in their field, that will be in business for years to come? I never understood that mentality.
Surround yourself with experts in their fields, as the expert in your field, don’t you want your customers to do the same?
We are rarely the cheapest price and we tell our prospects right up front, if all they are considering is price, then we won’t waste their time, but if they are looking for the best VALUE, the best service and best expertise and a long-term business relationship with a vendor they can rely on and trust- we are the vendor for them.
